Township of Skippack & Perkiomen

Before Montgomery County was created the Skippack region was part of Philadelphia County. In 1725 by petition of the residents of the region near the Skippack and Perkiomen creeks, a new Township was laid out, surveyed, and given the name of Skippack and Perkiomen. According to Governor Samuel W. Pennypacker this "effort was made, under the direction of Pannebecker", the Governor's ancestor Henry Pannebecker, who he went on to write "secured the signatures to the petition and gave his assistance to those who were unable to write."
